Nude Nails

I love the new light brown and tan shoes and sandals that have triggered a mass following lately, and these nail colors are just the thing to continue the nude madness.

Fleshy nail colors elongate hands and feet. What more can I say??

My Headers Picture

The picture in my header is of my Grandpa's Army Boots. G-pa was a World War II Veteran who wore cowboy or combat boots every single day of his life. I am the proud owner of these babies, and can tell you that he did not know it but he has been my inspiration so many times when it comes to fashion. He was by no means willingly fashionable, but my dire need for all things military inspired and stream lined (pencil skirts and well-fitting trousers) and my fascination with country clothing (cowboy boots, hats and blue jeans), and hats stem from a childhood of my Grampa's clothing choices.

The man wore military fatigues and his army boots as statement pieces when he attended rallies and special events almost daily. Wore a hat almost religiously and believed in checking his gig line and cleaning his boots before he ventured outside the house.

This is why I can't get dressed with out making sure my shoes are clean and scuff free, and almost always base my looks on military clean lines or country relaxed themes.

P.S. I changed the color of the blog b/c I could no longer stand the green tones. They were cool for a week or two to welcome Spring, but my colored wording competed too much. Thus, a clean fresh white canvas.

All under $30 - Major!!!

Wardrobe Challenge

I have been contemplating a wardrobe change for some time. In fact, I even discussed it with hubby the other night after he pointed out that I do not wear half the clothing in my closet for the umpteenth time. The truth is - I don't feel comfortable in most of what I own anymore.
I am in better shape than I have ever been, but my daughter hinders my options a little. My favorite blouses quickly become inappropriate when little E suddenly sticks her whole arm down them. My skirts have become too short now that I am crawling around on the floor most of the time.
So, I have challenged myself to build a better wardrobe that will sustain for years to come. This might be difficult, considering how trendy I can be. I like style and I like to be up to date on style. I don't want to appear matronly, but I definitely want a more streamlined, sophisticated look.
I am actively researching wardrobe basics, the core pieces that every woman needs to have in her closet. I figure if I start simple with the staples, I can add from there.
What are your basics?

Allergies

Spring makes me feel alive! The air is so crisp and clean and full of mold spores, tree pollen and allergens. If you can not tell - I am a severe sinus/allergy sufferer. I battle daily with my sneezing, watery eyes, and itchy throat. It is one of the primary reasons that I keep my house so clean.
On the days that I just can not tolerate it I resort to prescribed medications and a nasal inhalant. It never fails though that twice a year when the seasons change drastically (Spring - (March/April and Fall - October/November) I get sick..... really sick. Where my head feels like it is going to burst from sinus pressure, my throat gets sore, my sinuses drain down the back of my already sore throat leaving a icky mothball taste in my mouth. No amount of yawning mouth popping relieves the pressure in my ears. I literally start to curse the blooming flowers, sprouting grasses, and flowering trees.
For the first year though I am not alone in my suffering. My husband has succumbed to his first really really bad Spring Allergies. I would never wish this on him, and he keeps telling me that he got the allergies from me. Which leads me to wonder - Can someone really pick up your allergies? Every doctor has told me no, so I came to the conclusion that this has to be the worst allergy season ever.
After a conversation last night between my husband and his uncle, a doctor, he confirmed it. Uncle Doctor who works in the Texas Valley where there are virtually no allergens agreed that it is the worst Allergen season he has ever seen. This makes me feel better since I was taking the blame for hubby's sudden allergy development.
